Shang Mu Academy is an extra level in Freedom Planet, consisting of time-trial target smashing in obstacle courses. It is only available in Time Attack mode. The goal is to break the Targets on each stage as fast as you can while avoiding traps. By completing all 18 stages, a Target Master achievement is awarded based on the character that completed them.
All characters start with a maximum of three health petals during the stages, but some stages reduce the player's health, even to a One-hit KO.
The Shang Mu Academy might have been inspired by the target practice levels in the Super Smash Bros series.
