Life Petals are red and gold petals with healing properties and are used as medicine on the Planet Avalice. In the Freedom Planet Series, they are used to measure and replenish the Player's Health.
Freedom Planet[]
Character | Name | Petal Count |
---|---|---|
Sash Lilac | 7 | |
Carol Tea | 7 | |
Milla Basset | 4 | |
Torque | 4 | |
Spade | 7 |
In Freedom Planet, it takes 2 Life Petals to fully replenish 1 unit of health and one hit will cost 1 unit of Health (Half unit in Casual Mode and one to two units in Hard Mode, depending on the attack). Life Petals can also be found in Life Flowers and dropped by certain enemies. If the Player has no Life Petals, then the gold bar on the Energy Meter will blink red. If the Player is hit without any Petals, they'll lose a Life and then respawn at the last checkpoint. If the Player's Life Meter is full, the Life Petals will count as 1 Crystal Shard each. The Player's Petals can slowly regenerate on Casual and Easy Modes, but not on Normal and Hard. Also, they can be drawn in towards the Player if they're equipped with a Wood Shield.
Life Flower[]
Life Flowers are large flowers that contains Life Petals and are scattered throughout each Stage. Each Flower contains 6 Petals, which can be obtained simply by breaking it open. Milla can Carry N' Throw Life Flowers at enemies to inflict damage upon them.
If playing as Lilac or Carol, a CPU-controlled Milla will provide the Player with Life Flowers in the following Stages:
Stage | Details |
---|---|
Fortune Night During the Boss Fight with the Robopanther, Milla will throw Life Flowers at the Player from Torque's Plane. | |
Jade Creek During the Boss Fight with the Gunship, Milla will toss a Life Flower mid-fight, right before she appears to assist the Player by blocking shots from the Shade Elites with her Barrier Shield. | |
Final Dreadnought 2 Throughout the Stage, Milla will pop out of certain air ducts and drops a Life Flower near the Player. |
Freedom Planet 2[]
Character | Name | Petal Count |
---|---|---|
Sash Lilac | 5 - 7 | |
Carol Tea | 5 - 7 | |
Milla Basset | 5 - 7 | |
Neera Li | 5 - 7 |
In Freedom Planet 2, Life Petals are now similar to that of a meter, where the Player can take multiple hits before losing a whole Life Petal. The amount of damage varies on the Stage Difficulty and the type of enemy inflicting the damage. If the Player obtains a Guardian Orb from a Shield Crystal, the health and Element of that Orb will be displayed on the Player's Life Meter, taking up two Petals (more or less if you have an item); and collecting more Orbs will take up more Petals.
Revivals[]
In Freedom Planet 2, the Player can now Revive their Character if they're KO'ed, except if their body is disintegrated, in which you will go back to the last Checkpoint. When KO'ed, you will lose a Stock, and the Player will be given 2 choices:
Last Checkpoint Return to the Last Checkpoint at full health. |
Right Now The Character is revived immediately with 1/2 of a Petal and granted a few seconds of invincibility. |
Recovery Items[]
In Freedom Planet 2, certain Items can alter the Player's Life Meter, making it easier or harder for them to recover, depending on the Stage Difficulty and the effects of the equipped Items.
Item | Details |
---|---|
Max Life Down Decreases the Player's maximum Life Petal Count by one; giving 5 petals instead of 6. | |
Max Life Up Increases the Player's Maximum Life Petal Count by one; giving 7 petals. | |
Regeneration As long as the Player has at least 1 Life Petal on their Life Meter, their Health will slowly regenerate. | |
Strong Revivals If the Player is revived, they will recover up to 3 Life Petals, as opposed to the 1/2 Petal from standard Revivals.

Trivia[]
- Life Petals resembles Sakura Petals, except that they are Red and Gold, instead of Pink.
- When a Character's body disintegrates, they turn into Petals. The color to the Petals depends on the Player Character (Lilac: Purple, Carol: Green, Milla: White).[1]
