- The King of Shuigang, being confronted by Lord Brevon
Shuigang is one of the three major kingdoms of Avalice, and is ruled by Prince Dail, who inherited the throne after his father is killed by Lord Brevon during the opening of Freedom Planet.[1]In Freedom Planet 2, the Kingdom serves as the main setting for the Story Arc: "Mystery of the Frozen North!".
During the events of Freedom Planet, Brevon's Dreadnought crash landed in the snowfields north of Shuigang after being shot down by Spectrum Chasers. Unphased by this setback, he formed a plan to steal energy to repair his warship. He started by invading Shuigang, where he beheaded the king and brainwashed his son into obedience. In the 3 days that followed, Shuigang became a forward base for Brevon's plan to spark a civil war between the three kingdoms, so he could steal the Kingdom Stone to repair the Dreadnought and escape Avalice, leaving the planet on the brink of war. However, Brevon was defeated by Team Lilac, Shuigang is liberated and Dail, having been freed from his brainwashed state by his brother Spade, inherits the throne and becomes king.
King Dail calls upon Shang Tu for assistance, and the Magister responds by sending Team Lilac to answer the call. Upon their arrival, he explains to them that a thief has been stealing from Shuigang's steel and weapon reserves, and requests to track them down and bring them to justice. The team are also joined by Sergeant Askal, who was sent by the Magister, stating that they could use a "bloodhound" on their team. Their search takes them to north to the Robot Graveyard, where they encounter remnants of Lord Brevon's army and discover their hideout: the Shade Armory. Eventually, they encounter the culprit of the thefts: Serpentine, who confronts the team in an attempt to recover Syntax and recruit Milla, to whom he reveals to her to be a war-dog in Brevon's army. However, Serpentine was defeated and Team Lilac returned to the palace to report to Dail.
The name of the city, "Shuigang", comes from Chinese (水港), meaning "water port".
It is noted that like Shang Tu & Shang Mu, Shuigang maintained its Mandarin pronunciation in the Japanese translation through katakana (シュイガン).
Green is likely the national color of Shuigang.
It is rumored that the Shuigang Palace was meant to be an exclusive stage for Spade before his DLC got postponed. The details about how this would have fit into the story are currently unknown.
